Allison Lee Burgess is a Licensed Psychotherapist, Professional Speaker, and Neurodiversity Specialist.

She has helped hundreds of teens and their families through her psychotherapy and family consulting practice. She is also a professional speaker, giving presentations and providing professional development training in neurodiversity issues for teachers, schools and corporations.

She presented her TEDx talk, “Reimagining Parenting in a Neurodiverse World,” aimed at introducing the topic of neurodiversity as it relates to family relationships, and also presented a talk with the Stanford University Neurodiversity Project, “Neurodiversity and Relationships: Moving from Expectation to Appreciation of Cognitive Differences.”

Allison developed her family clinical consulting practice to provide the most comprehensive family support available that combines therapy, parent education about neurodiversity, academic advocacy, collaboration and coordination of care with other providers, and case management. She integrates a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, and somatic techniques into her work.

Originally from Fairway, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, Allison holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles and has a family consulting practice in Pacific Palisades, California. She works with clients in person in the Los Angeles area and with clients virtually from across the country.

Allison is a single working mom and proud parent of three fabulous young adults, a dog and a cat. When she’s not supporting clients, driving the kids around, and playing with the pets, you can find her indulging in a great book, meditating, spending time with friends and family, and perfecting her chocolate cake recipe.
